yet another server change

Well we had another server change, or rather account change since we're staying with the same hosting service.

but once again they proved that unlimited bandwith is only bandwith until you use to much and they "accidentally" break something.
Thats also why I really don't feel bad about setting up multiple accounts.

I have looked around but they seem to be the best free service that supports asp and access, all the others either have a really low bandwith limit or ,like one of those we tried, accidentally deletes our database which is infinitely worse then just stopping .asp files from running or write protecting the folder containing the database.

But now I set up a redirection domain, so that next time it happens, and it will, the move will be smooth for our members.

Really looking forward to my paycheck and a paid host.

GIP

Well here's my first attempt at using Photoshop at anything but post editing. I even managed to stay at a reasonable number of plugins so far. Go ME!

My only attempt at a "pretty" icon, and actually the first one I tried.

I like frames and I like 3d effects, they might not be of the most exciting subjects, but I like them especially the Spike one.

Attempted to make a faded old photograph look, but the subject kind of clashes and the details get lost when you only have 10000 pixels to work with.

And some animated gifs, first two are ok I guess, third one was my first attempt at a gif and that says it all I guess.

If anyone's interested feel free to take.

Plugin overload

Happens every time.
I find a new shiny program to play around with, usually some sort of CGI application.
I once again realize that my meager artistic talent doesn't cut it.
But there's always plugins that let me do the stuff I can't otherwise. And as opposed to my not so impressive artistic talents, my talents when
it comes to finding *cough*stuff on the net is so much more impressive.

And everything fine and good and I can make more and more advanced effects.

Only I never stop looking for plugins or brushes or meshes or skins or morphs or renderers or whatever the app can install.
Which means I once again have a piece of software that takes forever to load, uses up all my memory and is totally impossible to navigate.
But hey if I only could remember what half the stuff I've installed actually does, I bet would be only a few clicks away from making something
really really cool.

Happened with Poser and Lightwave and Max and I'm now doing it with Photoshop.
Because you need 10 gigs of extra software to make icons right?

TWOP Angel board

Is it just me that finds the posting rules on Twop's Angel board confusing as hell?

Maybe its just culture shock from moving over from the Buffy board. Not really anything against Strega but I can't seem to fathom how or where discussion involving spoilers should take place, and it seems I'm not the only one.

Well back to lurking until I figure it out.

Computer trouble

Lucky lucky me to have hardware trouble just when a new and "exciting" worm is making its rounds on the net.

Yesterday my computer starts to act really strange, my raid array sets out at random and my computer reboots from time to time. Last thing very annoying but if my raid drives go I'll start to commit random acts of violence. So at this point I'm very worried. About the same time I hear about yet another worm doing its rounds so I figure I'm probably just infected. Worm infection annoying but not really something I'm scared of. Except the symptoms don't really add up and I have a firewall, always update XP and check what's installed and what tasks are running stuff like that. But much time is wasted on stupid annoying worm and checking my system for malicious soft.

Further testing reveals that computer won't power up unless the case is tilted to an angle of 45 degrees, and I dare anyone to write a worm that can accomplish that. By then I'm rearranging drives and cards in the case, in the vain hope that it’s not the drives that have gone wonky while cursing everyone and everything around me. After extensive testing I find out that A. I can stand the case upright if I wait a bit, but then my raid doesn't work. B. Tilting the case to the left will result in raid drive that boots up but they will turn themselves on and off at random intervals. C. tilting the case to the right results in all systems go.

C. seems to be a workable solution except I keep hitting the case with my chair causing it to fall down and reboot.

Finally I accidentally taps the PSU while the computer is powering up and it losses power yet again, except this time I'm smiling happily, cause PSU's are cheap as dirt and doesn't contain data and most importantly can be yanked out and tilted without risk of hitting them with my chair.

Of course now I'm just waiting to really get infected by the worm so my day can be complete.

ATS Spoilers

Just random thoughts about casting sides

Hey I like Smallville, Don't love it, like it. And I know DB would really really like to play Superman in the next movie, still couldn't he rehearse for the role when he's not working.

Okey we got the "Pilot" and the introduction of Spike over with, so episode 3 must be the how they envision the "new" ATS format and honestly I'm not that impressed, not that it sounds extremely bad or anything it just sounds very much like another show I think I mentioned earlier in this post.

Neat little self-contained episode, girl gets bitten by werewolf, girl freaks, girl gets good advice from CK eer Angel, girl returns to family to live happily ever after. oooh and Spike get put in his place mustn't forget that.

Could be some neat special effects but considering budget cuts probably not. Could be some "artistic" nude scenes with girl werewolf, but considering timeslot probably not.

Heightened senses part might be interesting if filmed and edited right.

Really hope this is the calm before the storm episode, considering that Angel sounds very happy to be a vampire and actually think he's not evil (what’s he been smoking?). And really really hope Joss tweaks the dialog a bit before they start filming. And really, really, really hope that DB has some chemistry with this one so we can move on from 'See Angel Date' and get some good angst and pain and misery going.

Oh and where's Wes? Well maybe it wasn't his turn to Put Spike in His Place.

I know it’s just Sides there may be high drama and good arch hidden in the script away from the guest actors, but in all likelihood there’s just lots of Putting Spike in His Place
